Bais Yaakov Schools: 1925-1929

The Bais Yaakov movement grew at rapid paces in the interwar period. Very soon after the first class in Sarah Schenirer’s apartment in 1917, the Bais Yaakov movement had spread across Poland. The map below displays data from three different reports about Bais Yaakov schools (1925, 1927, 1928) and a list of school in a 1929 book, Leo Deutschlaender’s “Das Erziehungswerk der gesetzestreuen Judenheit” (Frankfurt a. M. 1929). Each of the pins below contains information about the non-standard / Yiddish spelling of the location in Bais Yaakov documents. Some include information about the teacher and the year the school was founded.
